Our Story
The Godwin family restaurant’s concept began in 1952 on a corner of 1st Avenue Southeast. By 1962, Ron Godwin was fully invested and after 1975 restaurants were popping up all over Cedar Rapids, IA. By 1968 brother, sisters, and mothers were committed to making sure all customers walked out happy. To this day, we keep striving to bring a quality product, service and atmosphere to all our clients.
In 1983, Rockwell International (now Rockwell Collins) called us and asked if we could do a monthly event for their employees. Always willing to take on a challenge we said ‘sure!’ We grilled brats and hotdogs and provided beverages for 5000 employees. It lasted for over 5 years every summer.
This was our prelude into catering. By 1988 we opened our catering facility in downtown Cedar Rapids where we remain today. We have expanded into a full-service catering company including outdoor gallery, beverage trailers, and rental company.
Even after the devastating floods of 2008, where we lost 4 buildings, we persevered and rebuilt all to welcome our customers. We never stop working for our customers!
We pride ourselves in being a turnkey catering company that can take care of all your details. Our event planners have had years of experience planning functions for many different kinds of events. We have an experienced staff of over 200 people that would love to make your event special.
Every menu is made fresh to order and beautifully presented. We gladly prepare ‘by request’ dishes!
